Our mission for this show is to make the goings-on of Washington and Lee’s 27th Mock Convention as transparent as possible, to answer our most frequently asked questions, and allow more people to join the party.

Layne Smith ’20 is an English and Global Politics double major, with a focus in rhetoric and nuclear strategy, and a native Texan by way of Westchester, New York. As General Secretary for Mock Con, she is responsible for the internal logistics and communication of the organization. If not emailing, she can be found listening to the Bon Appetit podcast, making Spotify playlists, or going to yoga.

Jimmy is a senior from St. Charles, Illinois studying global politics and business administration. As General Chair he oversees the entire Mock Con organization, and enjoys getting to meet new people in that role. This past summer he worked in Washington D.C. researching healthcare policy. Formerly he was on the W&L Mock Trial team and helped restart the W&L club baseball program.

Political Chair

John is a senior from Barnegat, New Jersey studying American Politics and Education Policy. As Political Chair, John oversees the entire predictive arm of Mock Convention by leading a team of over undergraduate analysts and is the chief political analyst. Summer 2018, John worked in Washington, D.C. and Cape Town, South Africa for the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the Wine and Agricultural Ethical Trade Association, respectively. When not reading the news, you can find John hosting a 70’s & 80’s music radio show.
